Evan Schoenberg of Adium X interviewed by DrunkenBlog

Adium X aims to be both incredibly intuitive – the “Can my mother use this?” test – and extremely customizable without sacrificing usability. I believe that we are closer to fulfilling both these goals than either Fire or Proteus, and our coding architecture means that we still have a huge potential for growth.

Although I went back to iChat everytime I tried a different instant messenger, Adium X indeed progressed nicely since its first incarnation that appeared on the web. I guess one of the things that I don’t like about it is the inability to group contacts which have more than one IM service running (maybe I’m just blind and didn’t find that option) and that the contact list is a tad too minimalistic. I’m making the habit of meticulously adding contact list icons to my contacts and Adium X just won’t display them until I mouse over the contact!

Still, a good read ;)
