Proteus Creator to work at Apple July 16th
Justin Wood, head developer and creator of Proteus (the other major multi-protocol IM application for Mac OS X, currently at version 4.04), recently announced that he’d be letting go Proteus Development to have it continued by a startup company founded by a good friend of him.
Well, he’s not only letting go on development of his own pet project, there’s a reason behind that. He’s going to work as a QA engineer on the iChat team. That is basically the good news. Since Justin has so much experience on the multi-protocol end of an IM application he might be the one to finally drive multi-protocol support to iChat, which would be an amazing (and probably the most requested) step forward in iChat’s history (leaving the iSight integration aside).
“So long short of it, I am now a QA Engineer on the iChat team, at Apple! As I write this, I’m packing up my stuff, and shipping it down to Sunnyvale, just a small bike ride away from 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino.”
Anyways, good luck Justin and thanks for your hard work on Proteus! I certainly enjoyed running (and paying for) this application (while I, as I mentioned, usually switched back to iChat).
