New iPods around the corner?

nw_152_magcover_040717.jpg Just about three weeks after I decided it might be time to get a 40GB iPod rumors have it that Apple might be launching a 4th generation of its portable mediaplayer. engadget.com is running a story based on today’s cover of the Newsweek magazine which supposedly features one of those 4g iPods on its print cover, while the online article linked I’m linking to doesn’t mention any product announcements. We’ll see (and get grumpy, because my iPod is now old again).

engadget.com: Here are some of the changes in the new iPod, which we’re calling the 4g model for now. Brushed metal scroll wheel, thinner form, centered headphone jack, no more 4 button nav above the wheel and likely a lower price. We’ll add more as we get more info!

Update: More information available at ThinkSecret, MacMinute, MacNN and MacMerc

Update 2: Okay, it’s official now. More info: MacNN, MacMerc, MacMinute.
