Typo 2.0 going gold April 24th
Tonight Tobi’s purty little weblog engine typo hit a major milestone by being applied the magic 2.0 mark. Before I go light up two candles to celebrate this milestone, here’s a quick rundown of the accomplishments between version 1.6.8 and 2.0.0:
- One-click setup
- Support for non-vhost installations
- Support for multiple authors
- Web-based Admin Interface with live-preview
- Ajax-based commenting
- Ajax-based live-search
- Pretty permalinks
- Pagination
- Syndication of 43 Things
- Database backed sessions
- Transition to ActionWebService
- Spam Protection via DNSRBL, age checking, regex- and string blocking
- Markdown support
- Migration script for MovableType 3 users
- Extended testing suites
- And lastly, its very own visual identity using a logo from Justin Palmer
Right. That’s quite some progress and we refrained from calling it 3.0 in the last second :)
If you like what you see here (on this blog), feel free to give typo a try. Typo is being released as Open Source Software under the MIT License and is one of the showcase applications for rapid development using the Ruby on Rails web application framework.
