Backpack launches May 3rd

and their star choreograph David Heinemeiner Hansson just today launched their third major hosted web application based on Ruby on Rails: Backpack
Backpack extracts once more from the feature set of the Basecamp project management suite, but being targeted more at the personal information management sector. It provides people with the ability to quickly assemble their own pages with a few clicks here and there, adding images, files (even by email) and that way group information into logical chunks. Prime examples are simple project management cases, business trip planning, brainstorming and the like.
Pages can be shared and made public, a lot like the lists over at Tada Lists. Another strength of the system is the flexible reminder-ship via both email and mobile phones (where’s O2 Germany support? hint hint)
The system starts out with a free plan, albeit that’s not blessed with uploading capabilities and limits you to the creation of 5 pages. At $5 a month you get 40MB of storage and 100 pages, plans go up to the premium enterprise model with 250MB and 500 pages.
