Plat_Forms Contest: Call for Rails participants November 28th

The Plat_Forms Contest is a programming contest for web application frameworks. Small teams of 2 or 3 developers are given 30 hours to implement a web application based on the same functional specification in their framework of choice. Plat_Forms is looking for teams of the camps of Java EE, .Net, Perl, PHP, Python, and, obviously Ruby on Rails. The University of Berlin will scientifically evaluate the results and publish a paper that will provide a comprehensive and objective direct comparison between the frameworks used.
I have been nominated as the Rails representative of the Contest Committee and I am still looking for teams building the requested web application using Ruby on Rails.
The facts:
- The contest starts on January 25th, 2007 (with a day of setup on the 24th) and runs for 30 hours
- It takes place in CongressCenter Nuremberg, Germany during the Heise Open Source Meets Business Conference
- You need to be a team of 3 people, including an optional web-designer
Please note that there will be no overall “winner” of the contest. However, there will be a winning team per platform and a monetary price will be awarded for each of these teams.
If you are interested in participating, please contact me directly at patrick@limited-overload.de. If you have concerns about travel or hotel cost, please get in touch nonetheless as we might be able to work out some sort of sponsorship for that.
Thanks for your interest.
