all in all i would have mostly "kind words" too, but there are some minor irritating exceptions that taint the overall good impression. 1.) production of not validating xhtml-code (example: empty ul ) 2.) using GET when you should use POST (changing state) - and rationalizing it by saying in is behind a login... (what protects from over-eager searchengines but still is wrong in the firstplace) 3.) giving a really bad example multi-column db-ordering "(:order => ‘id, created_at’)" - multi-column ordering makes only sense when the first column can potentially have identical values (not possible by ids) and "id" and "created_at" are in the same order anyway (at least as long as you neglect sub-second differences). - still i would recommand this book for newbies (like me).

once more me - maybe this is the wrong place but i found no link for question or discussions about the book. On page 301: "When you’re assigning a value to a model attribute, you should use the self.my_attribute syntax (self refers to the current class) to prevent potential variable scope issues." shouldn't this read: "When you’re assigning a value to a model attribute, you should use the self.my_attribute syntax (self refers to the current ***OBJECT***) to prevent ***THE CREATION OF A LOCAL VARIABLE***.?
